- First the work table that will be used must be thoroughly cleaned .Rubbing alcohol can be used to sterilize it. Draw a cc of air into a sterile syringe. Pierce the rubber top of the diluents vial & inject air into the vial. Keeping the vial & injection upside down & draw a cc of diluents into the syringe.
- Now pierce the rubber top of the HCG vial & push the plunger to release the diluent into the HCG vial. Remove the needle & gently roll the vial to mix the 2. Do not shake the vial.
- Draw a cc of air again into the syringe & pierce the HCG vial & inject the air into it. Again inverting the vial keep the needle below the surface of the liquid & draw the entire contents of the vial into the syringe.
- Tap the syringe gently to remove any air bubbles & gently push the plunger until a drop or 2 of liquid comes out.
- Wipe the area to be injected with alcohol & allow it a few seconds to evaporate. Stretching the skin insert needle at a 90 degree angle & depress the plunger slowly until all of the liquid is injected. Apply gentle pressure on the site after removing the syringe & cover with a bandage.
- Discard needle & clean the area again. Use a biohazard container if possible.
